I've done tubular K members, but never with coilovers. I have always had a concern that the coil over switches the spring load from the K member, as factory, to the strut tower, which never saw a spring load like it does in early Mustangs, Falcons, etc. Back in my A-Sedan days, none of the Fox racers did those for that reason. What are the effects of putting the cars' weight there? I'm picturing cracks or tears down the road with such a setup, without doing some extra bracing in the area.

Hey Mike, all good points and reasons I chose the MM set up. They are one of the few companies who address your concerns (and mine) by using heavier gage caster/chamber plates designed for the added stress. My R raced for many years with coil overs on it and show no sign of damage. The previous owner removed them before he put it up for sale. I didn't have the money then to buy the "extra" parts and had to wait to upgrade it. I’ve been very impressed with the attention to small details MM puts in to there parts. I can't wait to get it drivable again! If I get it to the round up this year, you are welcome to take it for a spin, if Billy will give up the keys!Mike S. wrote:I've done tubular K members, but never with coilovers. I got the rear suspension back together last weekend. I also got to run my old CNC Mill and did a little mod to my Edelbrock intake manifold. I milled of the edelbrock, and milled a pocket for the new intake plaque. What do you think, will it fool a few people??
This weekend I wont make much progress a my wife is running a horse event, so I’m home playing dad. However my new motor is done and I’ll pick it up next week. Hopefully I’ll be installing it next Sunday.

Last couple of weekends have been pretty productive. I got the front end all squared up, got the new spindles, hubs, and rotors on. I went with 2004 spindles to help minimize the amount of required bump steer shims, and to get the proper holes for the Kenny brown brake cooling ducts. The factory 93R spindles are another unique part I did not expect to find. They have the sealed bearings like the 97+ spindles, however they do not have the holes for the dust shields. I got my motor installed and the trans in last night.
Freshly painted 2004 Spindle

The Kenny Brown brake cooling ducts fit on the 2004 spindles quite nicely.

I found my first problem with a Maximum Motorsports part. It may be due to the mix mash of parts on the 93R however, the bump steer kit for the 93 mustang did not fit as shipped. I had to take ~1 inch of length from the red part shown. Fits great now!

I picked up my new motor last week. Here is a shot of my Paxton on top of it! The engine is a 347 stroker. I added a stud girdle, windage tray, Canton road race pan, AFR 185 Comp port heads, ford Z cam, and Edelbrock RPM II intake (shown earlier). Lots of little parts still to get installed and ordered yet. I hope to hear it in a few weeks.

Removing the temporary valve cover you can see the Comp Gold roller rockers.

I got the Fidenza flywheel and new Spec stage 2 clutch installed, as well as the bell housing on Sunday AM and had it ready to install by noon.

Here is the new Mill installed. The wood block is there to keep form damaging the fire wall while the trans is missing.

Yesterday after work I was able to ge the rebuilt T5 installed, it has the Gforce kit inside it with a taller OD so I can actually use in on the track (.83 I believe instead of the stock .68)
