Well guys as you all know i've been looking for another Cobra for the better part of this year. I was looking for a lower mileage teal/cloth car with no sunroof to use as my DD. But my DD duties consist of only 4-5k miles per year considering how much i'm away from home due to my job.
But anyways... I hadn't been able to find ANYTHING that met my needs. I found a really nice teal/leather sunroof with 11k miles that i was actually only a few days away from buying. But i kept thinking that i would hate myself to drive it and even told my wife that if we were to go out of West Palm for anything then i wouldn't want to drive the Cobra. And that seemed sorta stupid to me. So.... i remembered that there was a teal/gray cloth sunroof car with 45k miles only an hour north of me. So i randomly called him to see if he still had the car and he did! It was a pretty nice price difference between the 11k mile car AND i wouldn't have to pay for shipping!
The car was really nice. However i'm not too sure if i like the cloth better than the leather now...lol But i am sure that i HATE the sunroof. I think it ruins the lines of the roof and doesn't look as clean.
I'm sorta pissed off though. The car had a dead battery when i bought it so we used a portable jumper to start the car. It ran fine and i drove it home. So i went to Ford today and bought a new battery and it still won't start! So now the starter needs replaced. Which is a PITA! I still haven't figured out how to get that top bolt out yet. Also i noticed there was an oil leak at the back of the engine. Got a quote of around $500 to replace the rear main seal. Oh great...
So yes i bought a cobra. But i haven't gotten to enjoy it yet at all! It's still sitting in the garage with a layer of dust on it because i can't even back it out and wash it.
Here's a pic that i took of the car as soon as i arrived home.

Thanks man! Yeah i've been doing some research online about it. And that's how everyone is saying to do it. No wonder. I literally spent the better part of the day trying to get that damn'd bolt.

Nice car! Yes the starter can be a PIA to remove. By chance did try try a different solenoid first?
If you have to pull the starter and doing it without a lift I found removing the front wheel gives you some more room to work when trying to get the top bolt. Get the two of the longest ext you can with a universal in between.
The rear main is leaking @ only 45K? Is it dripping or just showing signs of whetting in the front of the trans? If its just whetting I would change the oil and maybe add some seal conditioner additive , clean it up and drive it for awhile to see what it does. Rear main wetting is not uncommon on the 5.0's

Congrats Track on the score! My 5.0 had cloth and I just got my Cobra a month ago with leather. May sound silly but I had the "sliding"action, guess I should stop taking corners lol. I hope you guys didn't buy up all the Teals, once I recover from this purchase I want to grab one.

I read somewhere that these car's sitting for extended periods of time is TORTURE on the rear main seals...I had to replace one on mine when I bought it...

Congratulations on the purchase, I agree with this ^^^ comment. If you have to take the right manifold loose and move it some to help you out, just replace the gasket if you do. On the rear seal double check the oil pan bolts on the rear, snug up if they are loose. Do not over tighten it will make it worse.
