First time at the track, talk about SLOW!!!

Post by ceetwarrior »

Hey guys, made it to the track tonight and boy was I surprised..... wishfull thinking of hitting 14's are all gone.

4600ft, Pueblo, CO

1st run, 18.0 @ 87mph!!! Wheelspin all through 3rd gear. I mean, MAJOR. I was sideways at every shift, even at almost half track at 50-60mph.

2nd run, 16.1 @ 92

3rd run 17.5 @ 88

4th run 15.7 @85, missed 4th and coasted through the finish.

5th run 15.7 @91 w/ .157 light and 2.6 60' easy out on start and roll on throttle.

Then I got kicked out for wearing shorts, those bastards. Drove 50 miles one way and paid $20 to run. That really pissed me off.

Even with my 3:55's I'm not even hitting 4th gear!! Every pass I was finishing at 5600RPM in third gear!!

Needless to say tonight sucked. These tires are quite possibly the worst tires I have ever seen. They turn to grease when they get hot. And I am going to go back there with some stickys and be in the 14's.

Anyone host videos? You guys gotta see these vids...

Wow, that really sucks. I have never seen anyone run anywhere near that slow. My car went 14.2 bone stock with street tires and 107,000 miles. And then went 13.7 on E.T streets bone stock, all I can say is get some tires and some more seat time. Your 60' times should be at least somewhere in the 2.2 range on street tires and at least 1.8 on slicks. Hang in there, you will get better!

Kicked out for shorts, know the rules before entering...

But from an ET perspective, the 15.7 isn't as bad as you think. I'm assuming no one factored in the 4600 feet of elevation. If this is true, then your ET should be adjusted to 14.8.

Here's the link for the calculations.

For perspective, back when my 93 was new, my first quarter mile run was a pathetic 14.979 at 101. All that's needed is practice to get more respectable numbers. On street tires you may see a few 1.95 60 foot times and shift at 5500.

Nice link, now in my favorites.

I read their website after returning home and it said NOTHING about the shorts. I downloaded their rule book and read NOTHING about it either. I sent them an email telling them this, no reply back. AND they should have said something to me during the whole tech process.

Awesome dude, that makes me feel a lot better! My friends Z28 could only muster a 15.1 and it's an auto with good traction.

How big is the file? If you use Yahoo messenger, we might be able to transfer that way. If it's giant, you might have to burn it to cd or dvd and send it snail mail to me.

Ziping it up won't do much for video. PM me your YM name and I'll add you and we can try it that way. What is the file size???
