Headers, Mid Pipe & Cat-Back

Post by laz2447 »

I have been looking and looking for a few weeks and I just cant seem to make up my mind.

I figure I need to ask fellow 93 owners. What kind of set-ups are you running or know of other 93 cobra owners running?

I have debated with Ford Racing Shorty Headers, Stock Mid, And Ford Racing Cat-Back...Then thought about the Pypes all stainless "kit" available through 50 Resto...Looked on Summit for different combos and Im just spent!

Insight and opinions please! Thanks!

I have a friend who can give you a good deal on Bassani stuff. He can get everything from the headers back. If you want let me know and I will put you in touch with him.

Just depends if you want the exotic or muscle sound. long headers vs. shortys, x-pipe vs. h-pipe vs. no crossover, flowmaster style muffs vs. glass packed type, pipe size.

Don't get me wrong but it seems that every mustang out there has the same flowmaster type sound. I want mine to sound more old school muscle. I'm looking at longtubes, H-pipe, 2.5", and probably a glass packed kinda muff and tail pipes for sure. Maybe SLP loudmouth.. haha

But I hear you exhaust decision is a hard one for sure! I've got a friend who has changed his exhaust over 12 times on his truck just trying to find that 'right' sound. :P

Just got done ordering everything!

Went with mac shorty headers, mac o/r h pipe, and the traditional flowmaster american thunder cat-back with 2.5 polished tips...

I know I really went out on a limb! HAHA!

But that being said I listend to tons of sound clips and I know what to expect and I will be happy. Good luck to others!

And thanks!

I got the headers of of ebay for 160 shipped. The h pipe from 50 resto for around 170 shipped. The cat-back I went with summit and it ran around 340. Mac + Flows just seemed like a good match for the ol' 302.

All in all not to bad if you ask me! I have a buddy of mine who has a shop right up the road from me to help with the install so im good to go for the most part. Just have to wait it out!

I forgot I made this post! Haha...

Car has been done for a month now and I am really happy with the results.

The power gain is noticeable when under hard acceleration as well.

I can easily say it sounds exactlly like I wanted it too.
