OEM Cobra Wheels and H-Pipe Question

Post by sn8k1 »

I am just now finding out that the oem cobra wheels were offset 3/4 of an inch. No one makes a reproduction for these cars? Would spacers work on the cobra repos that are not offset to fit the gt's lx's or I am totally off?

Also, the 93's had four cats? When you replace with an h pipe do you need mil eliminators like the 94-present? IF not, what fixes it?

Thanks.

No, you will not need mil eliminators, if you run an off road h-pipe, nothing else is needed.

The Cobra reproduction rims are 1" wider (+26) outward. The backspacing stays the same. I've looked into this already. Those will fit just fine (from what I've read) but will be 1" wider which whill allow to run a 275/40/17. That's what I am going to do when I get some extra dough.

you can run a 275/ 40 on a stock cobra wheel and I dont think the repros are the same offset.

I wouldn't run a 275 on only 7.5" rim. Wouldn't that buldge mess with the handling?

I checked on the backspacing not to long ago, it is the same as stock (I can't remember if it was 4.5"...)?

I just ran out to the garage and got some.... please nevermind the filthy-ness of the car at this moment, I havent gotten to take it out since October.... Im in the process of changing the head gaskets on it, but I havent had the time because im also having a new home built and thats taken every minute of my spare time....

Also, after taking these pics, im not sure Id go with a MAC exhaust again if thats how its going to look after 2 years, and I dont even drive it for 4 months or so a year because of these damn chicago winters....

So will the replicas fit or not? I've heard it both ways. Besides tire/offset/buldge fitment will they clear the rotors/brakes/hub whatever is supposedly keeping it from bolting up. ?????
