looking at buying my first cobra. advice wanted inside:
hello everyone,
I am a long time fox owner but never have owned a 1993 cobra yet (hopefully about to change). specificly I am looking at #3011. here is the current CL listing: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/ ... 15459.html . I talked to the owner and he has all the factory parts minus the factory transmission. He also said the front bumper needs resprayed from rock chips. upon doing some research I found The for sale thread on here from when he bought it: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5728 . sorry this is so long winded but i want to see what you guys think about this car and the price. Thanks in advance for your help!

On the surface, this appears to be a relatively clean (albeit new paint and new interior parts), modifed Cobra with not too many miles.
However, I'd be careful on this one. 76K mile Cobras should normally not need a re-paint and such extensive replacements of interior parts. Also, this car was for sale in June 2013 with 74,400 miles with new paint. Now it's for sale again with 76,300 miles and already has enough rock chips to need a re-spray on the front bumper? I'd question the quality of that paint job.
In June 2013, the only mods listed were Flowmasters. Now the car has an extensive list of mods. So the current seller dumps significant $$ into this car only to put it up for sale in less than a year. Make sure there's a good reason for that.
Based on these concerns, $15K is too high IMO. Good luck, 50stang.

current owner told me it was the texas high way rock chips. he also said he is selling because he is getting out of the military and buying a house. the current owner said the previous owner bought the car in NC and it was nice but needed restored and a new front bumper.
what do you think it is worth? I have my opinion but want to here others first.

What is your definition of "mint"? For a few grand more (around 15K) you can buy a really nice driver quality car.50stangpower wrote:anyone know of any others on the east coast for around 12k or less. i want as near mint as possible and NO PROJECTS!!! (i have enough)

If you want as near mint as possible, you'll be spending a lot more than 12k or less. BTW, what do you think #3011 is worth?

I think this one is pretty close. I don't mind the mods but wish it had the stock t-5 just to keep as well.

I value it at 13k. There are some things that worry me on it but I think 13 is fair for that car.
Also let me clarify what I am looking for. I am looking for a mint DRIVER not a garage queen. I don't mind mods but really want all the stock parts as well (as I'm sure most here would).

Typically drivers arnt classified as "mint". But 12-15k will get you a nice driver. Under 12k will be either a fixer up or high mileage car.50stangpower wrote:I value it at 13k. There are some things that worry me on it but I think 13 is fair for that car.

A mint driver is probably gonna run you 15k+
A trailer queen I would consider around 20-25k
